Access: Service > Apply Spring and Constant Load Properties
This function transfers automatically selected properties to variable spring supports, variable spring hangers, and constant load supports and hangers as input data. Use for manual control of piping forces and stresses. This approach often produces more economical results than automatic selection. Manual adjustment of supporting forces in variable springs is frequently necessary to reduce equipment connection loads.
Transferred properties include:
Operating load (if spring selection in operating mode is set in general properties) or cold load (if cold mode selection is specified)
Spring chain flexibility (stiffness)
Number of spring chains (rods or supports)
When "clear spring properties" is selected, supporting load and flexibility are reset to zero, but the number of spring chains remains unchanged.
When transferring or clearing variable spring properties, you will be prompted to select target springs.
(!) This function cannot transfer properties for analyzing other piping modes where springs are already selected (such as Equipment Alignment Check, transportation stage, etc.). For these cases, specify pre-compression instead of operating load by converting springs to custom restraints (see below). More...
Access: Service > Apply Precompression Spring
This function transfers stiffness and precompression load to variable spring supports and variable spring hangers.
Transferred properties include:
Precompression load
Spring chain flexibility (stiffness)
Number of spring chains (rods or supports)
Operating and cold loads on springs change across operating modes, but pre-compression remains constant. This maintains selected springs while allowing piping design modifications. Used during Equipment Alignment Check, transportation stage, and similar analyses.
Access: Service > Convert Spring to Custom Restraint
Converts specified (or all) variable spring supports and hangers to custom restraints. Replaces springs with vertical elastic restraints. Transfers pre-compression values from Variable Spring Supports and Hangers Properties table to custom restraints.
