This expansion joint permits torsional rotation of connected pipes about their longitudinal axis. Rotation occurs when the applied torsion moment exceeds the friction moment. Typical configurations and application diagrams are shown below.

Friction Moment

Torsional resistance threshold. Rotation initiates when applied torsion moment exceeds this value.

Allowable rotation

Maximum permissible torsion angle. Used for expansion joint deformation analysis. Obtain this value from manufacturer specifications.
