Ice and Rain loads are applied to all above ground pipe elements and fittings in vertical direction downward. To remove ice loads on some elements, set to zero the ice shape factor.
Available following codes for ice loads:
ASCE 7-22 (USA)
Dk – Insulation Outer Diameter (specified in pipe properties)
c - Ice Shape Factor (specified in pipe properties)
- Ice load in unit weight (0.9 tf/m3)
fz - height factor
IBC 2021 (International)
Same as ASCE 7-22
GB 50135-2019 (China)

Property |
Description |
Insulation Outer Diameter |
Insulation outer diameter is used for calculation of ice layer area |
Elevation of Start/End Node |
Greatest elevation is used for calculation of ice load. By default, the elevation above the ground surface for wind and ice load calculation is calculated automatically assuming that the ground plane is horizontal. The option "Recalculation of elevation above a ground surface" should be switched off for pipelines laying on the ground surface with variable heights |
Ice Region |
Select ice region number from SP 20.13330.2016 maps |
Load Type |
SUS - if ice load assumed as sustained, OCC - if ice load is assumed as occasional |
Basic Ice Thickness |
|
Wind Exposure |
|
Hill Shape |
|
Height of Hill, H |
|
Crest Distance, Lh |
|
Distance from Crest to Site, x |
