3.6.2. Material database

Properties of element material can to be selected from data base (ASME II Part D, EN 13445-3, etc.) or is set by user.

Material database consists of two parts (fig. 3.21): group of standard materials and group of user's materials. First group cannot be changed by user. To edit the second group, "Edit user's materials" shall be selected.

To create a custom duplicate of the current standard material, click "Copy to user materials".

In order to transfer the selected material to the local project database (see the previous section) it is necessary to press "OK".

The button "Cancel" allows you to close the window without adding material to the project.

3.6.3. User materials

In the user's materials editor the following operations are available (fig. 3.22):

After pressing OK button a new material will appear in the group "User's materials".

Material properties at given temperature are determined by linear interpolation.

If some value is initially equal to 0, then at calculation in will be set automati-cally, as per GOST 34233.6, based on the material type and grade.

3.6.4. Material Database Viewer

The PASS/NOZZLE-FEM software provides the user with the opportunity to use a special utility to view databases of standard materials and their properties, edit the database of user materials without running the main program.

The utility is launched via a shortcut <Material Database> or running the file Nzl64_MatDB.exe (Nzl32_MatDB.exe for the 32-bit version of the program), which is located in the root directory of the installed program PASS/NOZZLE-FEM. At startup, a window appears (fig. 3.23) with the interface and basic functions described above. Additionally, you can set the interface language, theme, and units as in the main program.

The important feature is the ability to specify a code of design by analysis, which will correctly display the allowable stresses for the selected material used in the calculations of the main program.
