3.1.3. Import PASS/EQUIP XML file

The program can import model from PASS/EQUIP through open XML format. To do this, you need to run the command Open of menu File or through according toolbar command, and to select XML file. The program will automatically detect the source (program) of the generated data.

When the XML file is opened, the program detects the object model tree. If the tree contains only one object, then it is imported as a base element. If two objects are defined, then the program tries to import them as base element and nozzle (support). Otherwise, a dialog box is displayed (fig. 3.1), in which the user specifies which objects should be imported.

The dialog box has two selecting modes (fig. 3.1):

• Base element - allows to select only a base element without any attachments.
• Base element + Nozzle(Support) - allows to select a base element and a child element (attachment); in this case, it is enough to specify only the child element, and the base element is determined automatically.

The import considers the general configuration of the model. For example, in the presence of saddle supports, the program will automatically adjust the length of the base element that the boundary conditions were to more correctly set.

This dialog box is not shown when PASS/NOZZLE-FEM is called directly from PASS/EQUIP because the base element and attachment were already selected by the user in PASS/EQUIP.
