Minimum design metal temperature is calculated according to 323.2.2 (a), (b), (d), (e), (f), (g), (h), (i), (j) of ASME B31.3.
Minimum temperature is taken from material database. If the curve type is specified, then taken from the following diagram depending on component wall thickness
According to 323.2 (g) if "Use MDMT Allowable Reduction" option is chosen in the project settings, the stress ratio r<0.3, then MDMT temperature is taken as -104 °C (-155 °F).
According to 323.2 (h) if "Use MDMT Allowable Reduction" option is chosen in the project settings, the steel is carbon, low alloy, and intermediate alloy, then MDMT temperature is reduced to a temperature according to fig. 323.2.2B, but not colder than -48 °C (-55 °F) for base metal and -29 °C (-20 °F) for weld metal. The stress ration "r" is calculated from all operating modes automatically according to 323.2.2 (b)
After analysis, if the minimum design or ambient temperature from all operating modes is lower then calculated MDMT value, the "Impact Test" note is printed. If greater, then "OK" is printed.
After analysis: Output > MDMT, Impact Test
