Learn about PASS/START-PROF pipe stress analysis software

Metal hose assemblies consist of an internal bellows with external braiding. The braid absorbs pressure thrust loads, preventing transmission to connected piping. Hose stiffness is typically negligible for analysis purposes.
Three modeling approaches available:
Example project: Metal hose1.ctp
Insert a Custom Expansion Joint with high flexibility values.

Example project: Metal hose1.ctp
Split piping system at hose location and analyze as separate models. Apply end caps to free ends.

For Options 1 and 2, distribute half the hose weight to each end connection (nodes 6 and 10). Verify end displacements against manufacturer specifications after analysis.
Use the Flexible Element feature for direct hose modeling.
