Update your USB security dongle to maintain PASS/START-PROF functionality. This guide covers update requirements and procedures.

Dongle updates are required in these situations:

Important!

Local Licenses
Run the "Update Dongle" utility on the computer where the USB security dongle is physically connected.
Network Licenses
Remove the network dongle from the server and connect it to a local computer. The "Dongle Update" utility cannot run under Remote Desktop (Error 70 - dongle manufacturer restriction).

Install PASS/START-PROF on the local computer, or download the "Dongle Update Utility" and "Sentinel Protection Installer" from passuite.com.

Return the dongle to the server after successful update.

 

1. Run "Update Dongle" on the computer with the physically connected USB key. Remote Desktop connections are not supported.

Start > All Programs > START-PROF > Update dongle.

2. In the "Request code" section, click "Save" and email the file to: support@passuite.com

The request code changes each time you open the utility, but this doesn't affect the update process.

3. PASS support will provide an update code file within one business day. Save this file to your computer.

4. Run the "Update Dongle" utility again: Start > All Programs > START-PROF > Update dongle.

5. Click "Open," select the update code file, then click "Update."

6. Confirm the action. A success message appears when the dongle information updates correctly.

I use my dongle on multiple computers. Do I need to update it on each one?

No. Update the dongle once on any computer. The updated dongle works on all authorized computers.

The request code changed when I reopened the update utility.

This is normal. The request code regenerates each time but doesn't affect the update process.

You're running the utility under Remote Desktop. Connect the dongle directly to a local computer and run the update there.

Can I update a server dongle without removing it?

No. Physically remove the dongle from the server and connect it to a local computer for update.

Only one USB dongle should be connected during update.

The update code is for a different dongle. Request a new code for your specific dongle.
